Waterfront Park is the only large green space on Bainbridge Island that is located close to the Winslow Town Center, along a city-wide trail system, and near the Washington State ferry terminal.
The Park is host to the only public dock on Bainbridge Island.
Goals from the Park Master Plan incorporated into the design include:
Meeting needs of multiple users (boaters, rowers, seniors, families, etc.);
Renovating the park for universal and ADA access
Connecting existing amenities within the park and amenities surrounding the park
Invasive species removal and forest restoration.
Proposed enhancements include providing ADA-compliant pathways for universal access, additional park seating areas, and open space improvements for civic events and unprogrammed recreation. Connected terraces and open spaces will provide enhanced views to the water.
Stormwater treatment facilities will provide opportunities for art and education while improving storm run-off from Winslow and surrounding facilities. Improvements will support projected residential growth locally and renovate deteriorating park infrastructure.
