Project Overview

The City of Bainbridge Island is planning to decommission an aging sewer main that runs along Irene Place NE, due to frequent maintenance issues. The existing side sewers will be replaced with individual grinder pump stations located on private property. The pumps will be E-One model DH071 pumps. The properties with impacted sewer service are listed below:

1237, 1239, 1241, 1245 and 1253 Hawley Way NE and 1285 and 1281 Irene Place NE

A new force main will be installed along Hawley Way NE from 1253 to 1197 Hawley and connect to the existing gravity sewer system. The two homes on Irene Place will be connected to an existing force main that runs under Irene Place.

Project Status

April 2025: This project has been completed. 

March 2025: Construction has begun

October 8, 2024: City Council awarded the construction contract to Sound Pacific Construction LLC. The contractor is working on pre-construction items including soil borings, electrical load analysis and materials with construction scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2025. 

September 2024: The City received two bids for this project.
