PROJECT OVERVIEW

The City of Bainbridge Island is planning to extend service to two existing water systems: Casey Street Water and Ferncliff Water Association.

The Ferncliff Water system is a community Group A water system serving 17 residences with 18 connections. It consists of a well and a pump/tank house located on parcel 4200-000-001-0009. Water is sent from the well into a distribution system to each residence. The existing distribution system is on private property and primarily flows through a 2-inch pipe which dead ends near 10495 NE Fenton Road to the south, and 8880 Ferncliff Avenue to the north. The distribution system is in very close proximity to houses and runs under various pavement types, fences, hardscape and established landscaping. There is no established access way along the route of the pipe.

The water main extension will extend existing service along Ferncliff Avenue from the intersection of Ferncliff Avenue NE and NE Garibaldi Loop. A new 8-inch Ductile iron pipe will be installed along the shoulder of Ferncliff Avenue NE within the right-of-way and will run to the intersection of Ferncliff Avenue and Grand Avenue. From there the main will split and head north along Ferncliff Avenue and west toward Casey Street, and south along Grand Avenue to Fenton Avenue. Water meters will be installed along Ferncliff Avenue, Fenton Avenue and Casey Street. Service lines will run to each house.
