High School Road Safety Improvements

Project Overview

The High School Road Safety Improvements Project is planned to go into construction before the end of the year. This location has been identified in the City’s Island-wide Transportation plan as having the highest number of collisions, including those involving pedestrians and bicyclists.  A Focused Traffic Study was completed in 2017 identifying safety enhancements for the roadway.  This project is funded by the State 2018 City Safety Program/ Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program grant.

The project will focus on Safety enhancements by providing warning sign upgrades re-configuring crosswalk landings, installing rectangular rapid flashing beacons for crosswalks, relocating a crosswalk, and other traffic items. Work will also include community involvement, topographic survey, and construction support services.
