The High School Road Safety Improvements Project is planned for construction before the end of the year. This location has been identified in the City’s Island-wide Transportation plan as having the highest number of collisions, including those involving pedestrians and bicyclists. A Focused Traffic Study was completed in 2017 identifying safety enhancements for the roadway. This project is funded by the State 2018 City Safety Program/ Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program grant.
The project will focus on safety enhancements by providing warning sign upgrades, re-configuring crosswalk landings, installing rectangular rapid flashing beacons for crosswalks, relocating a crosswalk, and other traffic items. Work will also include community involvement, topographic survey, and construction support services.
