1. Am I eligible to receive the vaccine?

All Washington residents 5 and older are currently eligible for COVID-19 vaccination.

2. How do I get vaccinated?

• If you have a primary care provider, you may be contacted by provider directly when they have vaccines available at their practice.
• If you are a resident of Bainbridge Island and eligible for a vaccine, you may request an appointment online when the City announces upcoming vaccine clinics. A link to schedule an appointment will be shared on this page, along with the date, time, and location of the vaccine clinic. 

3. Which vaccine is available on Bainbridge Island?

Currently, the Commodore Clinic is offering the Pfizer vaccine. The Pfizer vaccine is provided in two doses, approximately 21 days apart. Learn about the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine here. 

4. How much does the vaccine cost?

The vaccine is free. If you have insurance, you will be asked to provide the information. Your insurance may be billed an administrative fee.

5. Is there a waitlist?

The Kitsap Public Health District is offering a standby list for its COVID-19 vaccination clinics in Bremerton and Poulsbo and Bainbridge Island's Commodore Clinic.  The list allows Kitsap residents to sign up to be on call for vaccination appointments if unused vaccine doses are available at the end of a day.

This list is open to people 16 and older who have at least one health condition that puts them at higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19. Kitsap Public Health is prioritizing vaccination for people who are at higher risk from COVID-19. See the CDC’s website for a list of qualifying health conditions.

6. Do I still need to wear my mask after I am vaccinated?

Yes, wearing a mask provides an additional layer of protection; the same way social distancing and hand washing provide layers. When you receive the COVID-19 vaccine you have an additional layer of protection.

7. Why don’t some providers currently have vaccines?

The Washington State Department of Health determines the weekly distribution of COVID-19 vaccines across all approved providers in the State. There will be weeks that certain providers do not receive additional doses until additional vaccine becomes available nationwide.

8. When will providers know if they will be receiving vaccines?

Providers are typically notified on Sunday what their allocation will be for the week. This means it is challenging to plan for more than one week at a time.

9. Can I get vaccinated if I’m not a current patient of the Bainbridge Island providers?

This will vary by provider. All eligible participants will be welcome to sign up for an appointment at any future clinics that may be hosted through the City’s partnership with Bainbridge Prepares, BI Fire Department, and Community Pharmacy.

10. Do I have to go to the same provider for my second shot of the COVID vaccine?

Yes, it is important that you go to the same provider/clinic for your first and second vaccinations. Second doses are allocated to providers based on the initial dose count they received. If too many people go to different providers for their second dose, it makes it very difficult to keep track of the proper doses needed for each second dose clinic.

If you are unable to get a second dose with your original provider, the University of Washington is offering a second dose clinic regardless of where the first dose was given. They have both Pfizer and Moderna.
