Interim Police Chief submits resignation

COBI

Interim Police Chief Jeff Horn submitted his letter of resignation today to City Manager Morgan Smith.

Horn was hired as Deputy Chief in 2014 and appointed to Interim Police Chief in February 2019.

“Chief Horn’s extra effort over the past year has helped to provide stability to the department and community during this period of leadership transition,” said Smith. “Having worked together for five years, I have a high regard for his positive attitude and commitment, and I wish him success in his next position.”

Horn’s last day of employment with the City will be Dec. 5.

Effective immediately and through Dec. 5, Interim Deputy Chief Scott Weiss will be Acting Police Chief. After that, Weiss will serve in the role of Interim Police Chief until a replacement Police Chief is hired.

In August 2019, the City started its formal search for a new Police Chief. The community can meet the Police Chief finalists at a reception Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at City Hall.
