The City of Bainbridge Island is seeking applicants to fill one vacancy on the Planning Commission. The person would serve a six-month term through June 2019 then be considered for a full three-year term.
The Planning Commission serves as an advisory body to the City Council, and provides recommendations to the Planning Director, Hearing Examiner and/or the City Council. The Commission's responsibility is to prepare, review and update the Comprehensive Plan, which describes the 20-year vision for the City and how that vision will be achieved.
A significant portion of the Commission's work will be review and recommendations related to major land use projects.
The Commission currently meets twice a month (second and fourth Thursdays) and extra meetings are scheduled as necessary.
The City Council recently adopted Ordinance 2018-20 revising the role of the Planning Commission.
Applications are due by 4 p.m. Friday, Jan.11. Applicants must be available Jan. 14 - Jan. 17 for an interview.
