City Dock Improvements

Watercolor painting of dock and moorage

Project Description

The project is to renovate and expand the 1986 guest moorage dock and launch ramp in Eagle Harbor. The objectives of the project are to improve ADA access and general accessibility on the dock; expand moorage for visiting boats; and expand tie up for launching and retrieving motorized, trailered boats. The project expands the float system and boat ramp to allow for improved boater experience, increased accessibility, fewer environmental impacts, and access to upland amenities.

The new dock is nearly 900-feet in length, more than double in length and almost twice as wide as the old dock. The new dock greatly expands moorage for visiting boats and increases the area for launching and retrieving trailered boats. The boat launch ramp has been extended to allow trailered boats to launch at lower tides.

Features of the new dock include all-aluminum framing with non-slip decking, improved lighting, potable water and electrical connections, new sewage disposal facilities, and a concession float that will offer kayak and paddleboard rentals. A lower, side-dock allows easy access for hand-powered watercraft.
