Joel's Law Forms
If somebody has a mental illness and is a danger to themselves, other, property, or is gravely disabled, and a Designated Mental Health Professional (DMHP)/ Designated Crisis Responder (DCR) does not act to detain that person for evaluation and treatment, then a Joel's Law petition to Superior Court, allows an immediate family member or guardian of a person to ask the Superior Court to review that DMHP/ DCR decision and consider an order to detain that person for initial detention. Click below for forms. Note- this is filed in Superior Court in Port Orchard, WA (NOT at the Municipal Court).
