Project Overview

The goal of the Eagle Harbor Drive / Wyatt Way Non-Motorized Improvements project is to improve safety for non-motorized users along Wyatt Way westward around the Head of the Bay.

Status

  • The City Council provided direction on the project preliminary design to city staff at the July 11, 2023 City Council meeting. The project improvements will start near the intersection of Wyatt and Nicholson Place, and will continue west around the Head of the Bay, south in front of Green Light Garage, and will continue south up Bucklin Hill to Blakely Avenue.  Facilities will include sidewalk infill, buffered bike lanes on each side of the road, and intersection safety improvements.  
  • The Council also authorized exploring the use of $900K in additional funding for the project by moving funds from the Lynwood Connecting Centers project, the annual pavement repair project, and the Bucklin to Blakely Non-Motorized Improvements project.
  • Preliminary plans are expected to be available in late summer/ early fall 2023.

Timeline

  • 07/11/23 – The City Council selected design alternative D, a two-sided bike lane facility (see Related Documents link).
  • 06/20/23 – The City Council performed a fieldtrip to view the extents of the project corridor.
  • 05/23/23 - The City Council was presented with several design alternatives, as well as a summary of feedback from the public engagement opportunities. 
  • 05/08/23 - Open House - Council Chambers
  • February 14 – City Council recommendation on preliminary design.
  • 01/25/23 – The City hosted an open house on the project design in the City Council Chambers.
  • 01/10/23 – City staff presented the City Council with an overview of the project scope of work, budget, and timeline.
