Nixle Color

Nixle is the City’s official emergency notification and alert system. In addition to providing communications during emergencies, Nixle is also used to inform the public of road closures, missing persons or urgent issues related to storm response.

Sign up: Text 98110 to 888777 or visit www.nixle.com. You can get Nixle alerts by text or email. 

 
At times, outside agencies will notify the City of issues that may affect Bainbridge Island. Below are the thresholds for sending Nixle alerts with information from outside agencies.

Kitsap Public Health District

  • The City will send a Nixle due to:
    • A known threat to health/safety/water quality
    • Water contact & shellfish pollution advisories that affect the Bainbridge Island shorelines
  • Sign up for KPHD alerts

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT)

  • The City will send a Nixle due to: 
    • Agate Pass Bridge closure
    • A major accident at or near the bridge or along State Route 305 that has caused delays or detours
    • Upcoming work that may cause delays or detours
    • Traffic light outages
  • Sign up for WSDOT alerts


Washington State Ferries

  • The City will send a Nixle due to:
    • Any incident identified by law enforcement that requires an emergency notification
    • Ferry service shutdown
    • A major incident affecting traffic coming on or off the ferry on the Seattle side
